About Erin Phillips
An Olympian and 3 x AFLW Premiership Player, Erin continues to build her on-field legacy, while balancing family life off it. Awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2021 for her services to Basketball and Australian Rules Football, she continues to inspire the next generation of female athletes across all sporting codes.
The daughter of a Port Adelaide SANFL football legend and a prodigiously gifted athlete in her own right, Erin rose through local basketball ranks to shine as a point guard for the Adelaide Lightning in the WNBL before being selected in the 2005 WNBA Draft by the Connecticut Sun. This began her international basketball career, representing Australia at the Olympics for more than a decade, and winning championships in the WNBA.
But Australian Football was always Erin’s first love. When the AFLW competition was announced to begin in 2017, Erin could not sign up quickly enough. This began the next chapter of Erin’s life as a professional athlete, recognised as one of the best players in the league, a leader, and a multiple Premiership player with the Adelaide Crows.
Erin’s life has now come full circle, joining Port Adelaide’s AFLW side ahead of their inaugural season.
